Mr. Abdirahman Ismail, OGW is the Executive Director at the Inter-Religious Council of Kenya. He received the Award of ‘The Order of the Grand Warrior’ (OGW) for his dedication and distinguished service to the nation for championing International Diplomacy and Peace in the region. He is an accomplished Economist Statistician with over two decades of experience in economic diplomacy, development cooperation, regional integration, Development Policy and Governance.
Abdirahman Ismail has exemplary academic credentials having attained a 1st Class (Hons) Degree in Commerce with distinctions in Economics, Commerce, Business Law and Financial Science, Majoring in Commercial Diplomacy, International Trade and Commercial Law/Contract Law.
He also has a Post Graduate Degree in Economics with distinctions in Development Strategies, Project evaluation, Economic policy analysis, econometrics and statistics. Mr. Ismail has undertaken various specialized courses in Economic, Statistical & Econometric Modeling as well as in budgeting & financial modelling in Kenya and abroad.
He attended the University of Nairobi, Somali National University, and is a fellow of Schloss Leopold Skron (Austria) and the Centre for Applied Studies in International Negotiations – CASIN (Switzerland).
He attended training on multi-lateral trade, strategic negotiations and international contract law in Geneva, organized jointly by USAID-REDSO & the International Trade Centre. In addition, Mr. Ismail is trained in strategic negotiations and Legal and legislative drafting.
Over the last two decades, Mr Ismail has worked in various highly professional and fast-paced environments including government Ministries and agencies in Kenya (Planning, National Treasury, Foreign Affairs and Mining) as well as intergovernmental organizations, UN Agencies, the World Bank and International NGOs.
