The Inter-Religious Council of Kenya is partnering with the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change & Forestry as part of efforts to restore the environment and mitigate the adverse and growing effects of climate change, in an exercise to champion the growing of 15 billion trees in Kenya which is expected to improve and raise the forest cover from about 7 per cent currently to 30 per cent.
The inaugural launch was held at Nakuru County with the Nakuru Interfaith Network Members.
“Today’s event displayed the interfaith character of IRCK as tree planting took place in a church compound, Muslim Cemetery and the Hindu Temple gardens.” – Executive Director, Mr. Abdirahman Ismail.
