Commitment To Building Trust And Joint Action On Peace And Security In Kisumu County

Senior Religious Leaders and Security officials have gathered at Acacia Premier in Kisumu today, on 9th June 2023:

RECOGNIZING that Kisumu County has in the past experienced conflicts and that response to these challenges requires a collaborative action between state and non-state actors. We have deliberated and identified the following issues:

  • Strengthen and enhance our cooperation as the Kisumu interfaith Networks;
  • Low public trust in public institutions;
  • The need to establish structured and sustainable involvement of the youth;
  • Need to introduce value-based curriculums in schools;
  • Need to strengthen collaboration with different institutions including the grassroots structures in the county;
  • Strengthening of peace structures such as peace committees;
  • Strengthen collaboration with civil society organizations including NGOs;
  • Strengthening our prophetic duty through prayer, guidance and counsel to our faithful and most importantly our youth.

COMMIT to refocus our energies, efforts and resources to re-engineer our societal architecture and work together with all actors, partners and stakeholders.

We further commit to building trust and joint action on addressing these issues to ensure there is peace, cohesion, and security in Kisumu County. Further, we commit to support and give input to The Presidential Taskforce On the Review of the Legal Framework Governing Religious Organizations in order to improve the governance structure. Participate in the review of the Peace Building Architecture in the Country to have a sustainable way of building peace in the Country.
